Patient Care Assistant - Intermediate Care Unit

About This Role

Provide direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse in an Intermediate Care Unit, focusing on patient comfort, safety, and daily living needs. Observe and report changes in patient conditions and equipment functioning.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse
• Implement components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs
• Provide comfort, safety and emergency measures
• Assist with activities of daily living: personal care needs, nutritional and elimination needs
• Measure vital signs, perform ECGs, and capillary blood glucose needs
• Observe and report the functioning of equipment, the results of treatments, condition of dressings and any change in patient condition
• Incorporate the concepts of the Hospital's Customer Service Program into all aspects of patient care activities
• Adhere to policies and procedures of the department

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• 1 year experience in a patient care role Preferred

Nice to Have

• 1 year experience in a patient care role
• Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program completion or at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program
• Certified Medical Assistant
• Certified Nursing Assistant
