Patient Care Assistant

About This Role

Perform routine tasks to support the delivery of safe, effective, and cost-efficient patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse. Assist with patient transport, transfers, lifting, and various diagnostic tests.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
• Monitor and record vital signs
• Assist in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
• Accurately measure, record, and report intake and output
• Obtain and record daily weight
• Perform blood glucose testing using a blood glucose meter
• Report changes in patient’s status promptly to RN
• Perform as a sitter or patient care companion when needed
• Assist in the admission, transfer and discharge process
• Perform unit housekeeping needs
• Deliver specimens, pick up medications and other items

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1 year of previous patient care experience
• BLS certification (American Heart only)
