Patient Care Assistant

About This Role

The Patient Care Assistant provides continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse within Ravenna City Schools. This role ensures patient safety and well-being while assisting with direct patient care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients
• Provide evidence-based de-escalation interventions
• Maintain a safe environment for self, patients and others
• Remain alert and attentive at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient
• Provide direct patient care such as vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Stock linens and supplies
• Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPIC
• Prioritize and execute task for the assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner
• Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition
• Maintain a calm and professional presence for the patient and their family members
• Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association
• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one (1) year of experience is preferred

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of and experience in medical terminology
• Experience working in healthcare environment
• Experience working in an electronic medical record (i.e. EPIC) or similar software
