This role involves educating patients about their insurance coverage and benefits, assessing their financial ability, and connecting them with assistance programs. The representative ensures accurate financial information is captured and communicated to patients and billing.
Responsibilities
- Obtain insurance coverage information and demographics from patients prior to treatment
- Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses
- Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements
- Educate patients on financial assistance programs and provide assistance with completing forms
- Complete Patient Cost Estimate forms based on diagnosis, insurance coverage, and financial assistance
- Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to each treatment
- Verify and update patient demographics and insurance coverage in the computer system at each visit
- Maintain updated manuals, logs, forms, and documentation
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent
- Proficiency with computer systems and MicroSoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPS coding application
- Ability to verbally communicate clearly and utilize appropriate terminology
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent experience
