About This Role

This role is responsible for greeting patients and guests, managing scheduling and check-in processes, and accurately collecting patient identification and demographic data. It ensures proper reimbursement by verifying insurance and handling point-of-service collections while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and guests courteously via telephone or in person
  • Initiate scheduling appointments or completing patient check-in/admission
  • Obtain and verify accurate identification and demographical data for patient medical records
  • Ensure accurate reimbursement by verifying insurance via electronic, telephone, or web applications
  • Perform point-of-service collections and manage patient registration/admission processes
  • Conduct financial analysis for each case and inform patients of financial responsibility
  • Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing processes
  • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships
  • Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communication styles
  • Ensure all required forms are completed and other paperwork/documents are accurate

Requirements

  • One year of related hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel retail and/or customer service related experience
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Clerical skills and technical knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, payor guidelines, and billing regulations
  • Skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and customers

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of related hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel retail and/or customer service related experience

Nice to Have

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM)
  • Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification)
