This role is responsible for performing daily patient access functions including scheduling, insurance verification, and registration, serving as a liaison between patients, staff, physicians, and insurance providers. The position ensures accurate data entry for financial clearance activities and resolves relevant questions and issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform multiple patient access functions including scheduling, insurance verification, and registration
- Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison for routine matters between patients, staff, physicians, and insurance providers
- Resolve questions and issues related to the scope of the department
- Obtain and enter accurate scheduling, insurance, and registration data into operational systems
- Initiate financial clearance activities
- Communicate to resolve patient access and quality service matters
- Ensure patient information is conveyed appropriately while complying with patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
- Accurately record information for registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to meet financial objectives
- Conduct front-end revenue cycle duties such as collecting payments and educating patients on billing processes
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- 3 years of experience in a healthcare environment including registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and/or business office
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers
- Knowledge of basic registration/access functions and insurance procedures
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and diagnosis/procedural codes
- Proficient computer skills and ability to learn and navigate multiple software programs
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Three years of experience in a healthcare environment, including registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and/or business office
