Path Technologist - Anatomical

About This Role

Perform clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and other tests following established protocols within an anatomical pathology setting. Maintain equipment and records, and conduct quality assurance activities.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and perform a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures relevant to the particular lab area and personal qualifications
• Prepare and test specimens for examination and report results
• Follow established in-process quality control procedures including recording data
• Perform routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Troubleshoot basic instrumentation, culture media, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, technical problems and methodologies
• Maintain sufficient supplies at work station
• Ensure and maintain quality control and assurance activities
• Use Infection Control practices and procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Licensed by NYSED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or as appropriate to area of assignment)
• Minimum of one (1) year work experience and/or training specific to the work being done in the area

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science or related field preferred
• Minimum one (1) year work experience and/or training specific to the work being done in the area noted

Nice to Have

• Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science or related field
• Histology experience
