Paramedic

About This Role

This Paramedic role is responsible for the direction of patient care while operating non-emergency and/or emergency modalities as a rescue unit. The EMT-P will lead, direct, and participate in the delivery of basic and advanced life support in pre-hospital or facility situations, delivering emergency medical care as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and participate in the delivery of basic and advanced life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation
• Give direction to other crew members when operating as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues
• Examine patients and report findings to receiving medical staff or physicians
• Deliver emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols
• Complete and record all required reports or runs made by the crews
• Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations: company policies; federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes
• Assure that assigned vehicle is completely stocked and in good running order at the beginning of each shift, after every response, and at the end of each shift
• Clean patient care compartment and vehicle in accordance with Company adopted infection control and maintenance guidelines
• Maintain office, lounge, bunk room, and vehicle parking area in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion
• Attend training sessions and orientations as required to maintain valid Virginia EMT Certification and requirements of the Company

Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet
• Maintain all required certifications as an active EMS provider
