Paramedic

About This Role

The Paramedic provides basic and advanced emergency medical care to patients in an acute care setting, responsible for assessment, monitoring, and clinical intervention. This role ensures direct patient care under supervision and supports emergency department operations by collaborating with medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced emergency care to patients under supervision of emergency physicians and nurses
• Perform assessments, interventions, and documentation for patients across the lifespan
• Assist with patient teaching and education, including procedures, equipment, and discharge instructions
• Monitor and interpret EKG and telemetry strips
• Identify and respond to changes in patient condition; notify medical team as appropriate
• Assist with patient admissions and discharges, contributing to plan of care development
• Set up and assist with invasive procedures; provide post-procedure monitoring
• Recognize and support cultural, spiritual, and psychological needs of patients and families
• Perform basic patient care tasks, including hygiene, ambulation, and dietary assistance
• Ensure proper use and cleaning of clinical equipment and supplies

Requirements

• Paramedic Technical Certification or associate degree
• Current state licensure as a Paramedic
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or de-escalation training

Qualifications

• Paramedic Technical Certification or associate degree required
• Minimum of six (6) months of experience in an acute medical/surgical setting preferred
