Paramedic - Critical Care

About This Role

Provide critical care and treatment to chronically or acutely ill and/or injured patients as a Critical Care Paramedic. Coordinate with a healthcare team to deliver superior patient care in ground transport, adhering to established protocols and ensuring safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based professional patient care and coordinate care delivery with other members of the healthcare team
• May be required to drive the ambulance to relieve the primary driver during trips or to accommodate staffing needs
• Administer and maintain pharmacologic agents and intravenous fluids during inter-hospital transports
• Operate and maintain proficiency with all equipment including cardiac monitors, ventilators, hi-flow, and IV pumps
• Assist the EMT/Driver in maintaining unit readiness and ensuring cleanliness and appropriate par levels for supplies
• Provide direct patient care and evaluate outcomes based on assessment of physical, emotional, bio-physical, and spiritual needs
• Collaborate with online medical control physicians to manage complex patient care in transport
• Communicate patients' clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format
• Clearly and accurately document pertinent information in the patient's medical record
• Ensure safe operations during ambulance-related activities in coordination with the Emergency Vehicle Operator
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Completion of an accredited paramedic program
• Completion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course
• 3-5 years' Experience as a Paramedic in a high acuity, high volume EMS system
• Tennessee Paramedic preferred, or National Registry Paramedic w/ TN Paramedic obtained by completion of orientation
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support current by completion of orientation
• BLS - Basic Life Support current by completion of orientation
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support current by completion of orientation
• Unrestricted Driver's License with clean driving history
• Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds
• Demonstrated high level of clinical competence
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Basic math skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required, Completion of an accredited paramedic program
• 3-5 years' Experience as a Paramedic in a high acuity, high volume EMS system, with preferred Critical Care experience.
