PACU Registered Nurse

About This Role

This role involves providing skilled nursing care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), focusing on Phase I and Phase II recovery for primarily adult patients post-surgery. The Registered Nurse will monitor patient status, manage moderate sedation, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) according to established protocols
• Monitor patient status using tools such as the Phillips Monitoring System, Aldrete Post-Anesthesia Scoring, and Braden Scale
• Manage patients undergoing moderate sedation or monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
• Collaborate closely with techs, aides, and respiratory therapists for comprehensive patient support
• Adhere to RN-to-patient ratios aligned with ASPAN/AORN guidelines for optimal care
• Float between the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) and PACU as needed
• Participate in on-call rotation approximately once per week, responding promptly as per facility standards

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with PACU experience
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
• Comfort in a fast-paced perioperative environment
• Ability to work flexible hours from 0600 to 1800
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
