About This Role

This full-time overnight Clinical Pharmacist provides essential clinical and operational services for acute care patients at MGH, ensuring safe and effective medication therapy. The role involves direct patient-centered care, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and adherence to professional and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational services for MGH acute care patients, interfacing with clinical pharmacy and operations teams.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for safe, effective, and prompt medication therapy.
  • Provide direct patient-centered care and integrated pharmacy operational services.
  • Deliver optimal medication therapy to patients with a broad range of disease states.
  • Assess patient needs, incorporating age and disease specific characteristics into drug therapy and patient education.
  • Adjust care according to patient response and provide clinical interventions to detect, mitigate, and prevent medication adverse events.
  • Serve as departmental resource and liaison to other departments, hospital personnel, or external groups.
  • Manage the appropriate use of medications according to professional and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct practice-related research and patient care, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Provide medication and practice-related education/training and actively serve as preceptors for pharmacy residents and Doctor of Pharmacy students.

Requirements

  • Eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Meet all Board of Pharmacy requirements to enter into a collaborative drug therapy management agreement (when applicable)

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Pharmacy required
  • 2-3 years experience working as a pharmacist preferred

Nice to Have

  • Postgraduate residency/fellowship training
  • Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 with critical care experience or a PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency
