About This Role

Conduct eye exams, diagnose sight problems, and prescribe corrective measures for patients within an Acuity Eyecare Group practice. The role focuses on establishing long-term patient relationships and promoting eye health.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct eye exams to diagnose sight problems and eye diseases
  • Establish long-term patient relationships through proper patient care and education
  • Perform verbal interviews with patients to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, and visual wants/needs
  • Instruct, recommend, and advise patients on options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease, and visual needs
  • Generate patient loyalty and promote the profession of Optometry and Acuity Eyecare Group values
  • Perform vision tests and analyze results
  • Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications
  • Recommend or provide treatments like vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation
  • Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery
  • Evaluate patients for the presence of diseases such as diabetes and refer to other healthcare providers
  • Promote eye health by counseling patients, including contact lens care and examination frequency
  • Communicate appropriate recommendations to opticians and sales people for lenses and coatings

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution
  • Passed all optometric state boards
