Optometrist

About This Role

The Optometrist will conduct comprehensive eye exams, diagnose sight problems, and prescribe corrective lenses and medications. This role supports practice growth by fostering patient relationships and educating them on eye care within the Acuity Eyecare Group.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye exams to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, and visual needs
• Establish long-term patient relationships through proper patient care and education
• Advise patients on options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease
• Perform vision tests and analyze results to diagnose sight problems
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications
• Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation
• Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery
• Evaluate patients for the presence of diseases and refer to other healthcare providers as needed
• Promote eye health by counseling patients on contact lens care and examination frequency
• Communicate recommendations for optimal lenses and technology to opticians and sales staff

Requirements

• Doctorate of Optometry
• Passed all optometric state boards

Qualifications

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution
