About This Role

Conduct comprehensive eye exams for patients, diagnose vision problems and eye diseases, and prescribe appropriate corrective measures and treatments. Educate patients on eyecare and build long-term relationships to promote practice growth.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye exams
• Establish long-term patient relationships through proper patient care and education
• Perform verbal interviews with patients to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, and reasons for their visit
• Instruct, recommend, and advise patients on options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease, and visual wants and needs
• Generate patient loyalty and promote the profession of Optometry and Acuity Eyecare Group values
• Perform vision tests and analyze results
• Diagnose sight problems and eye diseases
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications
• Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation
• Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery
• Evaluate patients for the presence of diseases such as diabetes and refer to other healthcare providers
• Promote eye health by counseling patients, including explaining contact lens care and examination frequency
• Communicate recommendations to opticians and sales people for optimal lenses with high-technology coatings and designs

Requirements

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution
• Passed all optometric state boards
