As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in patient experience and clinical workflow at a nationally recognized ophthalmic medical and surgical practice. You will assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations, document ocular exams, and support patient understanding of care.
Responsibilities
- Assist Ophthalmologists with patient workups, examinations, in-office procedures, and lasers
- Accurately document ocular exams, assessments, and treatment recommendations in real time
- Support patient understanding by reinforcing provider instructions and sharing educational materials
- Maintain smooth patient flow and clear communication regarding appointment status
- Take and document detailed patient medical histories
- Administer ophthalmic medications, apply eye dressings, and instruct patients on care and treatment
- Perform special testing and operate advanced ophthalmic equipment
- Conduct Van Herick measurements, Worth 4-Dot testing, and stereopsis testing
- Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic equipment
- Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and patient-care skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable
- A team player
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant
Nice to Have
- COA or COT certification
