Ophthalmic Technician

About This Role

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in patient experience and clinical workflow at a nationally recognized ophthalmic medical and surgical practice. You will assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations, document ocular exams, and support patient understanding of care.

Responsibilities

• Assist Ophthalmologists with patient workups, examinations, in-office procedures, and lasers
• Accurately document ocular exams, assessments, and treatment recommendations in real time
• Support patient understanding by reinforcing provider instructions and sharing educational materials
• Maintain smooth patient flow and clear communication regarding appointment status
• Take and document detailed patient medical histories
• Administer ophthalmic medications, apply eye dressings, and instruct patients on care and treatment
• Perform special testing and operate advanced ophthalmic equipment
• Conduct Van Herick measurements, Worth 4-Dot testing, and stereopsis testing
• Sterilize instruments and maintain ophthalmic equipment
• Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and patient-care skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable
• A team player

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least 1 year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant

Nice to Have

• COA or COT certification
