Ophthalmic Technician I

About This Role

Support a high-volume ophthalmic practice by providing quality and compassionate eye care services, including patient history documentation, visual acuity determination, and various clinical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient history
• Determine visual acuity
• Perform automated refraction
• Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician
• Perform office duties and clinical tasks, including entering data into EMRP
• Provide patient services
• Measure intraocular pressure (tonometry)
• Perform pre-operative preparation of patient
• Maintain equipment and instruments

Requirements

• Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required
• Must be flexible with traveling to various locations
• Ability to pay attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to seek instruction in areas where not knowledgeable
• Ability to recognize inconsistencies

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school
• 2 to 3 years of ophthalmic or optometric technician experience preferred

Nice to Have

• 2 to 3 years of ophthalmic or optometric technician experience
• COA certification
