Lead daily operations of a prosthetic manufacturing facility, overseeing production, quality, and technical operations. Drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with medical device manufacturing standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of assembly and machine shop departments, including CNC, milling, turning, and finishing
- Supervise and mentor production managers, supervisors, machinists, and assembly technicians
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Evaluate employee performance by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate machining and assembly workflows to meet production deadlines
- Manage optimal utilization of equipment, materials, and labor resources
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs for machinery and tools
- Enforce quality control measures to meet medical device manufacturing standards (ISO 13485, FDA compliance)
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance product consistency
- Manage budget, track cost of goods sold, and present KPI dashboards to executive leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing best practices, standard operating procedures, and process improvements
- Drive escalation and resolution of critical operational and project issues
- Ensure compliance with environment, health, and safety programs across machine shop and assembly areas
Requirements
- 5+ years operations management experience in precision machining and/or medical device manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, metal fabrication, and assembly processes
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools
- Detail-orientated with a commitment to quality
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical thinker with a focus on process improvement
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Lean and Continuous Improvement (e.g., Six Sigma) proficiency
- Production planning
- Cost accounting literacy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related discipline, OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 5+ years of operations management experience in precision machining and/or medical device manufacturing
