An Occupational Therapist (OT) will plan and administer occupational therapy in a home and community setting to assist pediatric patients with various disabilities and delays, focusing on improving their independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality care and meet patient and family needs by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results
- Develop goals appropriate for each child and create and implement occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician
- Assist pediatric and young adult patients in the areas of physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADL’s, and social/emotional development
- Improve patients' level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child
- Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine
- Coordinate with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with the physician order
- Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs
- Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system
- Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential
Requirements
- State Occupational Therapist license
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to implement treatment programs for pediatric patients with physical, cognitive, sensory and social/emotional disabilities or delays
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
