Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned long-term care residents under the supervision of a registered nurse. Deliver age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as per their care plan, ensuring adherence to infection prevention and control policies.
Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of an RN
- Deliver age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs as per care plan
- Follow infection prevention and control policies and utilize Personal Protective Equipment
- Assist with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining vital signs, and providing psychosocial support
- Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment, and provide range of motion and passive exercises
- Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, assisting with meals, snacks, water, and supplements
- Aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures if needed
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
- Communicate resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services for residents' living areas
- Assist and document wellness and recreational programs and encourage resident participation
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position
- Satisfactorily complete yearly department specific competency testing
- Maintain a record of 12 hours continuing education credits annually
- Maintain all department specific required certifications
Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
