Provide comprehensive patient care as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in acute, short, and long-term care settings at a large multi-specialty clinic. Assess patients, treat injuries and ailments, and develop appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide service to patients in designated care settings (acute, short, and long-term care)
- Assist physicians in patient care
- Assess patients and treat injuries and ailments
- Obtain thorough medical history and perform examinations/assessments
- Analyze and interpret patient information to determine appropriate diagnosis
- Round on patients when necessary to ensure care coordination
- Collaborate with providers and independently provide care
- Formulate treatment plans and prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost
- Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses
- Consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists
- Provide patients with information to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease
- Counsel patients and family members on self-management, prevention, and treatment plans
- Cover hospital consultations, rounding, and assist with patient procedures as needed
- Conduct research in specialty area and incorporate evidence-based practice guidelines
- Maintain current knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices
- Keep abreast of regulatory processes and payer systems (Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, private sources)
Requirements
- Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program
- Current competence and provision of care for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months OR completion of relevant degree in past twelve months
- Current licensure by applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit
- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC)
Qualifications
- Master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program
- Demonstrated current competence in providing care, treatment, or services for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months, or completion of master’s/post-master’s degree program in the past twelve months.
