Serve as a caregiver to residents in long-term care by providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role provides assistance with basic health care needs and aims to create a positive living environment for residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN)
- Deliver age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan
- Follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use
- Assist with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support
- Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate techniques and equipment
- Provide range of motion and passive exercises
- Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for the resident
- Assist residents with meals and snacks, providing water and supplements as appropriate
- Aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary
- Communicate resident's changing condition and care related concerns/responses to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational
- Provide assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourage residents to participate
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement
- Satisfactorily complete yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year (minimum 12 hours annually)
- Maintain all department specific required certifications
Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred
- Entry level with prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred

- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
