About This Role

Join the Surgical Critical Care team at Hartford Hospital as an Advanced Practice Provider, planning and delivering care for complex surgical and trauma patients in the ICU. The role involves performing physical examinations, formulating medical plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical examinations for complex surgical and trauma patients in the ICU.
  • Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
  • Collaborate with physician(s) and care team members to develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, including referrals.
  • Administer appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of practice.
  • Identify problems outside the scope of practice and refer appropriately to a physician.
  • Independently manage ICU patients.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in ventilator management, resuscitation, and critical care procedures within APP scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of recent critical care experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an ICU setting
  • Proven ability to independently manage ICU patients
  • Proficiency in ventilator management, resuscitation, and performing critical care procedures within the APP scope of practice
  • Comfortable working independently in a night shift environment

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of recent critical care experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an ICU setting.
