Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant | Neurology

About This Role

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive neurology care to patients in designated settings by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. This role involves developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and providing patient education.

Responsibilities

• Provide service to patients in designated care settings (acute, short and long-term care)
• Assist physicians in patient assessment and treatment of injuries/ailments
• Obtain thorough medical history and perform examinations/assessments
• Analyze and interpret collected information to establish appropriate diagnoses
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and independently provide care
• Formulate patient treatment plans and prescribe medications as legally authorized
• Maintain complete and detailed records of patient health care plans and prognoses
• Consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists
• Provide patient education to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease
• Counsel patients and family members about self-management of health issues

Requirements

• Master's, Post-master's, or Doctorate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
• Current competence and provision of care in past twelve months or recent graduate
• Current advanced practice licensure by applicable state board of nursing
• Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances
• Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC)

Qualifications

• Master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
• Current competence and provision of care in past twelve months, or completion of master’s/post-master’s degree program in past twelve months
