About This Role

Provide comprehensive inpatient management for pediatric surgical patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative continuum of care, performing daily rounds, assessments, and documentation for acute and complex surgical patients in a 24/7 role. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans and ensure effective communication with patients and families regarding care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient management for pediatric surgical patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative continuum of care
  • Perform daily rounds, assessments, and documentation for acute and complex surgical patients
  • Develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans in collaboration with attending surgeons, residents, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Assist with ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, labs, imaging, and other evaluations to support clinical decision-making
  • Conduct pre-operative evaluations and assist in preparing patients and families for surgical procedures
  • Deliver post-operative care, including monitoring recovery, adjusting care plans, managing complications, and coordinating discharge planning
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education about surgical diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, and follow-up care
  • Participate in care coordination, including consultations, transitions of care, and collaboration with outpatient providers
  • Respond to emergent or urgent clinical situations within the inpatient pediatric surgical population
  • Document all patient interactions accurately and timely in the electronic medical record according to institutional and regulatory standards
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts within the division
  • Support ongoing education for students, residents, or new APPs when applicable
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, credentialing requirements, and evidence-based practice guidelines

Requirements

  • Certification in Acute Care, FNP, or PA
  • Experience working in the inpatient setting is required
  • Master's degree in related field or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree
  • Licensure and certification in accordance with CCHMC Delineation of Privileges

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree
  • Experience or new graduate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant; experience working in the inpatient setting is required

Nice to Have

  • Experience as an APP in subspecialty
  • Multi-state licensure in addition to Ohio licensure

Certifications
