This role provides daily operational and administrative support for the NICU unit and outpatient services, acting as a resource for clinical personnel and coordinating information systems, environmental, admitting, and clerical functions. The position ensures efficient patient flow and proper management of patient data.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain unit information systems including medical record integrity, forms management, and timely response to faxes, mail, and patient data accuracy.
- Ensure timely completion of patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and short stay documentation.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility with patient charges, rental equipment, and charge capture procedures, while maintaining clerical supply levels.
- Ensure all areas are organized, safe, accessible, effective, and efficient for patients, families, visitors, and employees.
- Maintain awareness of patient location and monitor traffic flow at the front desk and on the unit.
- Assist with compliance of visitor policies and applying arm bands for parents/caregivers.
- Report maintenance and environmental service needs to appropriate divisions and follow-up to assure completion.
- Collaborate with clinical, admitting, information systems, and environmental services staff to coordinate efficient patient flow.
- Identify system problems and utilize strategies for resolutions.
- Respond to communication system/patient alarms with a sense of urgency.
- Review and revise staffing information.
- Actively participate as a front-line example of extraordinary customer service and satisfaction using Cincinnati Children's CARES behaviors.
- Interact with parents/guardians to obtain non-clinical information as requested.
- Ensure and review timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information (i.e. HIPAA, Informed Consent, Advanced Directive for patients 18 or older).
