Nurse Practitioner - Hepatology/Liver Transplant, Ambulatory

About This Role

This Nurse Practitioner role involves performing patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for hepatology and liver transplant patients in an ambulatory setting. The position also includes participation in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.

Responsibilities

• Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations
• Initiate, document, and communicate the plan of care
• Follow up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients
• Perform daily patient rounds
• Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests
• Interpret laboratory and test results
• Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care
• Note discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals on patient charts upon discharge
• Inform patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nurse Practitioner Program
• National Board Certification in specialty area
• Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State
• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
• Current BLS certification

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program
