This Skillbridge Internship at GE HealthCare provides military service members with an opportunity to gain civilian work experience by evaluating, repairing, and maintaining customer biomedical equipment, contributing to patient care through innovative medical technologies.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs under supervision
- Perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, and environmental inspections
- Maintain effective customer relations and daily communications to ensure resolution and proper follow-up
- Implement GE/customer facility contract and support business goals
- Assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution
- Work as a member of a local team to provide efficient service delivery
- Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries
- Maintain approved parts inventory and manage vendor's service delivery processes
- Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment and ensure calibration
- Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding medical equipment
Requirements
- Active Military Personnel
- Ability to develop and maintain good customer relationships
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to reach at, above and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck
- Good hand and finger dexterity
- Specific vision abilities (color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception)
- Must not relocate more than 30 miles from current location without approval
Nice to Have
- Previous experience and/or coursework interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on basic biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment
- Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to customers
- Experience interfacing with internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process
