Mental Health Technician

About This Role

Provide supportive care to patients in inpatient behavioral health services, assisting with daily living activities, monitoring behavior, and supporting treatment interventions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility
• Observe patients and promptly report changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition to the nursing team
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment
• Monitor patients for safety, including suicide risk precautions, elopement risk, and use of restraints per policy
• Support therapeutic programming by encouraging patient participation and assisting in group activities
• De-escalate and intervene in crisis situations using approved techniques to maintain safety
• Accurately document patient care and progress in the medical record
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support individualized treatment goals
• Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan in accordance with hospital policy

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working in a behavioral health, psychiatric, or healthcare setting preferred

Nice to Have

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
• Experience working in a behavioral health, psychiatric, or healthcare setting
