The Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care to patients, preparing them for examinations, assisting healthcare providers, and maintaining patient records. This role supports comprehensive women's healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing
- Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and other patient care areas
- Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint
- Measure, record, and document vital signs
- Perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection as directed by the provider (where applicable)
- Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and complying with legal regulations
- Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures
- Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers
- Represent the office in a professional manner and treat all customers with courtesy
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections (if applicable)
- Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions
- Ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of personnel and patients
- Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
Nice to Have
- Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care
- Experience with eCW electronic medical records application
