About This Role

The Medical Assistant with Limited X-Ray provides collaborative support to medical providers, radiologic technologists, and patients through patient care management, organization, and communication. This role is responsible for performing limited capacity x-rays and reporting results to medical providers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for limited x-ray services, including positioning patients and applying x-ray energy using established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Conduct patient registration, including securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, processing co-pays, and scheduling appointments.
  • Prepare patients for examination by conducting interviews, recording medical history, confirming visit purpose, and performing preliminary physical tests.
  • Perform point of care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis) and provide patient information to the provider.
  • Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area, completing order sheets to maintain inventory levels.
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
  • Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondence.
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up and perform opening and closing duties.
  • Follow operating instructions for equipment, document daily controls and calibration, and maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ARC or AHA)
  • One of the following certifications: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN, RN, EMT, or CNA
  • Specific state-required X-ray certification/license where applicable

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program preferred, High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical Assistant experience and experience performing x-rays preferred.
