This Medical Assistant position involves supporting urgent care providers by assisting with patient examinations and treatments, managing patient registration, collecting samples, and preparing treatment rooms. The role is crucial for ensuring efficient patient flow and maintaining a high standard of care within an urgent care setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider
- Manage the check-in and registration process, including securing paperwork and insurance verification
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts
- Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
- Conduct patient registration, including securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verification of insurance and patient eligibility
- Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for assigned center
- Coordinate provider referrals to assigned Specialist
- Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed
- Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail oriented
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to type quickly, basic computer knowledge
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required, Front Desk experience preferred
