Assist patients with examination and treatment under the direction of an urgent care provider. Manage check-in, registration, measure vital signs, and record patient information.
Responsibilities
- Manage the check-in and registration process, including securing required paperwork, insurance documentation, and verification of insurance and patient eligibility
- Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and record information on patients' charts
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients and prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm purpose of visit
- Perform preliminary physical tests for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed
- May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Conduct point of care testing (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to provider
- Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have medical supplies needed
- Answer patient questions regarding their care and keep them informed of their status
- Perform opening and closing duties, which includes cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- One of the specified Medical Assistant certifications or equivalent (LPN, RN, EMT, CNA) within 15 months of hire
- CPOE certification within two weeks of start date
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required, Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
- Medical Assistant experience preferred, Front Desk experience preferred
