Medical Assistant Scribe

About This Role

Perform patient care duties under direct supervision of a physician or nurse, ensuring accurate and complete medical records. This role supports the efficient coordination of patient care and administrative tasks within an ENT specialty.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with healthcare team to coordinate and implement patient care plans
• Record reason for visit and patient information for practitioner review
• Enter and document patient visit information into electronic medical record or written chart
• Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures (head circumference, audiometry, vision testing)
• Collect and assist providers with specimen collection using appropriate protocols
• Perform and document daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Perform electrocardiograms and phlebotomy in accordance with provider orders and infection control standards
• Assist physicians and nurses with special procedures and examinations (e.g., lumbar puncture, pelvic exam)
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of examination rooms, stock supplies, and ensure par levels
• Participate in pre-visit chart preparation to ensure lab results and documentation are available
• Perform clerical functions such as filing, processing insurance forms, preparing financial records, and answering phones

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successful completion of a six-month (6) to one (1) year course in Medical Assisting at an approved school
• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
