This Medical Assistant role involves providing both administrative and clinical support to ensure the smooth operation of an oncology clinic. The position focuses on delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care and enhancing clinic efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Document in electronic medical record (EMR) system(s)
- Request external medical records and prepare patient charts prior to appointments
- Perform and document patient vital signs
- Complete review of systems and intake documentation
- Prepare patients for physician care
- Administer basic first aid
- Perform venipunctures and non-intravenous injections
- Perform basic laboratory procedures
- Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms
- Assist with patient examinations, procedures, or treatments
- Administer certain medications as directed by the physician
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED; Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute.
- 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related role in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred.
Nice to Have
- Medical Assistant Certificate
- 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting
- BLS certification
- CPR certification
