Assist healthcare providers in the examination and treatment of patients, performing essential clinical and administrative duties to ensure quality patient care in a family practice setting.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and prepare them for healthcare visits, including placing them in exam rooms and obtaining medical history.
- Document a full and accurate set of vital signs.
- Populate all sections of the electronic medical record timely and accurately, including allergies, medications, vaccines, and social history.
- Assist providers during examination and treatment, performing point of care tests appropriate to skill level and state regulations.
- Maintain supplies in storage areas and exam rooms, and disinfect/clean treatment rooms after patient examinations.
- Conduct business in a service-oriented, cooperative, sensitive, and respectful manner with all patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Maintain all logs and required checks, such as refrigerator temperatures and emergency medications.
- Check and address voicemails multiple times daily.
- Address inbox messages (buckets) in the electronic medical record for providers, staff, and self.
- Provide back-up for front office duties including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited healthcare program (Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT) or equivalent work experience
- Maintain certifications per state guidelines
- Strong computer skills
- Some MA Experience required
- Current BLS card
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED and graduate of an accredited healthcare program (Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT)
- Some Medical Assistant experience required; 1-3 years in Family or Pediatrics preferred.
Nice to Have
- Nationally recognized as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics
- Athenahealth practice management system experience
