Provide individualized medical care to patients, supporting them and the attending physician. Maintain positive relationships with patients and families while ensuring efficient patient flow and accurate medical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized medical care to assigned patients in person, electronically, and via telephone under supervision of a licensed health care provider
- Assist in the delivery of health care services to patients of various backgrounds and age
- Maintain positive relationships with patients and their families
- Work effectively with fellow employees to ensure efficient flow of patients throughout their visit
- Communicate via phone to ensure patient needs are met timely and accurately
- Access company's data systems to document pertinent medical information
- Support the patient and provider throughout the patient visit
- Ensure the patient and provider are prepared for the visit
- Ensure the patient’s questions are answered prior to leaving; prepares room for next appointment
- Provide excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person
- Complete appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary
- Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Clinical knowledge
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Experience working with and maintaining confidential information in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision; completion of a formal medical assistant training program preferred
