Manage patient care at an assigned medical clinic as part of a multi-disciplinary team, improving the overall health of communities in rural northeast Washington. This role ensures quality patient care within a patient-centered medical home model.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms, informing them of delays
- Prepare patients for providers and anticipate provider needs to maintain efficient patient flow
- Perform phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed by providers
- Perform and document injections and immunizations
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients
- Clean, prepare, and sterilize instruments
- Assist providers with procedures, exams, and patient education
- Manage appropriate patient referrals and required documentation
- Observe and follow required safety protocols, including handling sharps and using personal protective equipment
- Answer telephones, schedule patients, and support care team members
- Obtain written orders from providers
- Work within the scope of practice determined by the Washington State Department of Health
Requirements
- Completion of medical assistant training through an ABHES or CAAHEP accredited program
- Certification through AAMA, CCMA, or NCCT within 120 days of hire
- Medical Assistant- Certified credential issued by Washington State Department of Health within 120 days of hire
- Excellent customer service, oral and written communications skills
- Compassion for patients
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Basic computer user skills
- Medical terminology and accurate spelling ability
- CPR/AED certified for a Health Care Provider
Qualifications
- Completion of medical assistant training through a post-secondary school or college program accredited by ABHES or CAAHEP
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in a community health clinic
- Experience with EHR
