About This Role

Manage patient care at an assigned medical clinic as part of a multi-disciplinary team, improving the overall health of communities in rural northeast Washington. This role ensures quality patient care within a patient-centered medical home model.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms, informing them of delays
  • Prepare patients for providers and anticipate provider needs to maintain efficient patient flow
  • Perform phlebotomy and laboratory procedures as directed by providers
  • Perform and document injections and immunizations
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients
  • Clean, prepare, and sterilize instruments
  • Assist providers with procedures, exams, and patient education
  • Manage appropriate patient referrals and required documentation
  • Observe and follow required safety protocols, including handling sharps and using personal protective equipment
  • Answer telephones, schedule patients, and support care team members
  • Obtain written orders from providers
  • Work within the scope of practice determined by the Washington State Department of Health

Requirements

  • Completion of medical assistant training through an ABHES or CAAHEP accredited program
  • Certification through AAMA, CCMA, or NCCT within 120 days of hire
  • Medical Assistant- Certified credential issued by Washington State Department of Health within 120 days of hire
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communications skills
  • Compassion for patients
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Basic computer user skills
  • Medical terminology and accurate spelling ability
  • CPR/AED certified for a Health Care Provider

Qualifications

  • Completion of medical assistant training through a post-secondary school or college program accredited by ABHES or CAAHEP

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in a community health clinic
  • Experience with EHR
