About This Role

This Medical Assistant position involves performing a mix of administrative and clinical duties to support patient care and ensure smooth office operations within the Women's Center For Pelvic Health.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately register and schedule patients, and print providers daily schedules
  • Ensure sufficient inventories of medical and office supplies are stocked
  • Process ordering of clinical supplies in accordance with practice standards
  • Demonstrate understanding of Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards and complete lab requests, referral and health forms
  • Administer injections, EKGs, spirometry, perform phlebotomy, and render therapeutic treatments as instructed by physician
  • Determine patient eligibility using programs like Medicaid EVS and identify when a patient needs a referral/preauthorization
  • Answer and screen office calls, greet patients, and project proper telephone etiquette
  • Enter accurate, complete, and timely data into electronic health records, accessing patient information only as pertains to duties
  • Obtain patient vital signs and properly document them in the medical record
  • Interview, triage, and prepare patients for examinations, and provide general assistance to the provider and staff

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting
  • Experience operating multi-line phone systems, fax machines, photocopiers, PCs, credit card machines, glucometers, EKG machines and other medical equipment
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting

Nice to Have

  • CMA, RMA or AAMA (through an approved/accredited organization)
  • Certification in Medical Interpretation (if serving as a bilingual/multilingual interpreter)
