Medical Assistant

About This Role

The Medical Assistant functions as part of the clinical team, providing patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse or provider. This role involves assisting with administrative, clinical, and clerical duties including patient history collection, scheduling appointments, and rooming patients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient and equipment for exams/procedures and maintain exam rooms and clinical area.
• Perform medical history collection and medication refill, per protocol.
• Collect and prepare lab specimens/lab requisitions accurately, and schedule and obtain authorizations for referrals and/or procedures.
• Identify actual or potential patient risks and communicate those risks to the licensed nurse or provider.
• Adhere to clerical, clinical, and EMR workflows.
• Perform clerical duties and provide front office support, including greeting patients and offering excellent customer service.
• Collect co-payments, schedule appointments, update missing patient demographics, and obtain referrals and pre-certifications.
• Use patient-centered care concepts in delivering care and performing related activities.

Requirements

• Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant
• Ability to accept and adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting
• Ability to take initiative and function independently as well as collaboratively
• Excellent computer skills including EMR, word processing, and Excel

• Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant

• Associate’s Degree from a Medical Assistant Program
• CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - NHA - State of Pennsylvania
• CMA - Certified Medical Assistant - AAMA - State of Pennsylvania
• CMAC - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification - AMCA - State of Pennsylvania
• MAC - Medical Assistant Certified - AMCA - State of Pennsylvania
• NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant - NCTT - State of Pennsylvania
• NRCMA - National Registered Certified Medical Assistant - NAHP - State of Pennsylvania
