The Medical Assistant I assists Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and nursing staff in a high-volume clinic setting, ensuring efficient patient care and maintaining a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms
- Identify patients using two identifiers, checking wristbands
- Obtain and document accurate vital signs, height, weight, pain level, fatigue, fall history, smoking history, and allergies in EPIC
- Promptly inform medical staff of significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms
- Conduct brief focused assessments, including interval changes
- Instruct patients on preparation for physician or nurse practitioner procedures
- Anticipate and set up special equipment or supplies for visits
- Alert providers when patients are ready and communicate pertinent clinical information
- Assist patients through the check-out process
- Clean and prepare exam rooms for the next patient
- Perform various practice-specific treatments and procedures, including 12-lead EKG, O2 saturation monitoring, and POC testing
- Maintain neat, organized, and well-stocked rooms, ensuring all stock is within expiration date
- Maintain the prescription line by gathering information and forwarding it to the appropriate provider
- Participate in staff meetings and engage in constructive problem-solving
Requirements
- Medical Assistant certification
- Basic Life Support certification
- High School Diploma
