About This Role

Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. Manage the check-in and registration process and perform essential patient care duties.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the check-in and registration process, including securing required paperwork and insurance documentation and verifying eligibility
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and record information on patients' charts
  • Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients and ensure medical supplies are available
  • Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
  • Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
  • Conduct point of care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
  • Maintain medical records, scan charts to patient files, and answer phone calls

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One approved MA certification (or alternative experience/credentials as specified)
  • Ability to type quickly
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma; Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required; 3+ years can substitute for certification under certain conditions

Nice to Have

  • Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program
  • Front Desk experience
