About This Role

This role involves assisting urgent care providers with patient examination and treatment, managing patient registration, and performing basic medical procedures. The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring an effortless patient experience within an urgent care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient check-in and registration process
  • Interview patients and record medical history
  • Measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height)
  • Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination
  • Conduct patient registration, including securing paperwork and insurance verification
  • Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
  • Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
  • Perform preliminary physical tests and point of care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
  • Stock supplies, maintain exam rooms, and ensure medical record maintenance

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience or 3+ years without MA certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ARC or AHA)
  • Approved MA certification OR Alternative Credentials (Nursing, LPN, RN, EMT, Paramedic, CNA)
  • CPOE certification within two weeks of start date
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required, 3+ years required without specific certification

Nice to Have

  • Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program
  • Front Desk experience
  • Experience in a Hospital, Emergency Room, or Urgent Care setting
