About This Role

Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. Manage patient check-in, vital signs, and prepare specimens for lab analysis, contributing to an effortless patient experience within a consumer-centric urgent care model.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient check-in and registration process, including securing required paperwork and insurance documentation
  • Interview patients and record medical history, confirming the purpose of their visit
  • Measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height) and record information on patients' charts
  • Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
  • Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
  • Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
  • Perform preliminary physical tests and conduct point of care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
  • Stock supplies, maintain exam rooms and reception area, and ensure medical supply availability
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
  • Answer phone calls, handle incoming/outgoing postal correspondence, and ensure reception is well-maintained
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building
  • Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment, maintain QA/QC logs, and troubleshoot breakdowns

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ARC or AHA)
  • One of the specified MA certifications (if less than 3 years MA experience)
  • Ability to obtain CPOE certification within two weeks of start date

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma — required, Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program — preferred
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required, 3+ years if without certification, 1+ year in Hospital, ER, or Urgent Care setting if using experience-based pathway

Nice to Have

  • Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program
  • Front Desk experience
