Medical Assistant

About This Role

The Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider, managing patient check-in, vital sign measurements, and blood sample collection. This role ensures patient needs are met through a welcoming culture of care and seamless integration with health systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage the check-in and registration process, including securing paperwork and insurance documentation
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts
• Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
• Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
• Perform preliminary physical tests and point of care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis)
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area
• Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
• Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building
• Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program
• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required; 3+ years of Medical Assistant work experience OR Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN, RN, EMT, Paramedic, or CNA in lieu of certification for those with less than three years of experience.
