About This Role

Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. Manage patient check-in and registration, perform vital sign measurements, and prepare specimens for lab analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the check-in and registration process, including securing paperwork and insurance documentation
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and record information on patients' charts
  • Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
  • Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
  • Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
  • Perform preliminary physical tests and point of care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
  • Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building

Requirements

  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to type quickly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma — required, Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program — preferred
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required, 3+ years for experience-based pathway

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA) (Required) CCMA (NHA) or CMA (AAMA or CHP) or RMA (AMT, AAH, or ARMA) or NCMA (NCCT) or NRCMA (NAHP) required for candidates with less than three years of experience (Required) CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification within two weeks of start date (Required)
