Medical Assistant

About This Role

This Medical Assistant role involves directly assisting dermatologists during patient visits, ensuring an efficient and friendly environment for patients and staff alike. Responsibilities include rooming patients, scribing, providing post-op wound care, and assisting with various dermatological procedures.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and document all vital information
• Scribe information for the dermatologist
• Provide post-operative wound care to patients
• Draw blood and perform suture removal
• Clean and stock exam rooms
• Schedule patient appointments
• Assist the dermatologist with surgical photographs and biopsies
• Assist with excisions and electrodessication and curettage procedures
• Assist with I&D, Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery, and phototherapy
• Assist with injections, Koh preps, trichograms, Tzank preps, dermabrasion, and patch testing

Requirements

• Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field (CMA, LPN, or RN)
• Willingness to complete Forefront Derm Tech certification if not a Certified Medical Assistant
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse
• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred

Nice to Have

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity
• DERM Tech certification
