About This Role

Provide float coverage as a Medical Assistant to Primary Care and specialty sites within the Michigan Medicine network, working directly with care teams to deliver excellent patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with providers and their care team to deliver excellent and timely patient care
  • Ensure efficient patient flow in a fast-paced primary care outpatient setting
  • Complete patient intake including taking vitals, obtaining medical and surgical history, and documenting chief complaint
  • Reconcile outside records and document clinical information in patient chart in electronic medical record
  • Assist providers with point of care alerts for overdue services
  • Assist with minor clinical and diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Provide clinical assistance by performing immunization/medication administration, EKGs, bench testing and procedures as necessary
  • Assist with obtaining medication prior authorizations

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrate team effort
  • Able to work independently
  • Good organization skills
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Flexible in assignment and work schedule

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary

Nice to Have

  • Certified as medical assistant
  • Experience working with Epic
  • Understanding of university policies and procedures
