Medical Assistant

About This Role

This Medical Assistant role involves performing detailed triage, documenting patient information, conducting basic lab procedures, administering medications, and providing patient education to support providers and ensure a smooth patient experience in an urgent care setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed triage and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and height/weight vital signs
• Perform basic laboratory tests such as EKGs, phlebotomy, urine specimen collection, and influenza nasal swabs
• Prepare and administer oral and injectable medications under physician supervision
• Setup exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies
• Provide patients with basic health information and instructions regarding discharge papers and medications
• Accurately complete checklists, inventory, and other written logs

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and clinical externship
• CPR Certification
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Superior customer service skills
• High level of professionalism
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to comply with the company travel policy
• Ability to work 12+ hour shifts, stand/walk for long periods, and lift 25 lbs.
• Scheduling flexibility, including weekends and holidays

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and clinical externship
• Minimum one year of clinical experience in a physician’s office or hospital (preferred)

Nice to Have

• CMA, RMA, or CCMA Certification
• Minimum one year of clinical experience in a physician’s office or hospital
