As a Concentra Medical Assistant, you will perform routine medical and testing procedures under the direct supervision of a clinician, ensuring quality care and excellent patient experience. You will handle various medical and clerical tasks in a fast-paced occupational medicine environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform ancillary testing and tasks including vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiograms, and respirator fit testing
- Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and performing all required testing
- Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician
- Triage and disposition all patients
- Assist providers during examination and treatment
- Prepare for and assist clinician with surgery set up and injury care
- Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered by the treating clinician
- Dispense medications and appliances as ordered by the treating clinician and in accordance with state regulations
- Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping
- Complete quality assurance activities on equipment, medical devices, and testing processes
- Manage patient flow and volume, keeping patients informed of expected wait times
- Perform clerical tasks in both front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping, ensuring accuracy in documentation
- Cross-train to perform Front Office duties including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check in/out, and communicating wait times
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials
- Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific)
- Ability to make decisions or solve problems using logic
- Outstanding customer service skills and professionalism
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information (HIPAA and PHI)
- Demonstrated willingness to participate in initial and ongoing training
- Effective communication and interaction with employers, patients, providers, and other employees
- Ability to maintain working relationship with all levels of employees
- Excellent computer skills
- Successful completion of orientation and training for all required medical tasks
- All certifications required of Medical Support Specialists
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Previous medical office experience preferred, working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements
